November 2, 2010: PTT ICT Solutions Co. Ltd. (PTT ICT), a company within the PTT Group that specializes in providing ICT solutions for the group, announces today the “ICT for GREEN” policy to promote the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to reduce energy consumption and to decrease negative impact to the environment. In line with this, PTT ICT has partnered with MFEC for the launching of a new virtual meeting service technology, “TelePresence Thailand”, to help increase productivity and reduce travel costs for its meetings between Bangkok–Mataput Rayong offices.
Despite the availability of natural resources that have served human constant consumptions, the lack of proper planning and good management have pushed many countries, including Thailand, to unavoidably face the negative effects of global warming. Becoming more aware of the vast negative impacts our action could bring, PTT ICT has taken initiative to adopt “ICT for GREEN” policy in order to promote the use of ICT equipment to reduce energy consumption and lessen the negative environmental impact. Additionally, this is also part of the effort to encourage corporate responsibility in energy management. ICT for GREEN will focus on utilizing ICT to manage and improve corporate “Green” undertakings in three major areas; 1) Efficient energy utilization by choosing equipment that releases low energy and low power consumption; 2) Keeping pollution at the lowest level; and 3) Proper management of used ICT equipment.

In order to make ICT for GREEN policy become a reality, PTT ICT has joined hands with MFEC Public Company Limited (MFEC), one of Thailand’s leading ICT solution providers and integrators, to introduce the TelePresence solution that could offers the next generation of virtual meeting service. TelePresence provides a whole new experience in long distance conferencing as it simulates an actual physical meeting environment even when participants are in various locations. The solution enables meeting attendees not to waste travel time, save cost of transportation, bring more business opportunities and reduce energy consumption in many different ways.

Currently, TelePresence is providing services in two locations; firstly, TelePresence 1 (E-Spirit Room), 4th floor of PTT ICT Solutions Co., Ltd., Energy Complex, Building B, Vipawadi Rangsit Road, Bangkok; and secondly, TelePresence 2 (R-Spirit Room), 2nd Floor, NPC Safety & Environmental Service Co., Ltd., NPC Safety & Environmental Service Building, Prakornsongkraorat Road, Mataput Sub -district, Muang District, Rayong. The two TelePresence rooms will provide supports to meeting of employees and managements of 45 companies under the PTT Group and others companies within surrounding industrial zones.
In the future, PTT ICT plans to expand TelePresence Thailand services to other businesses companies locating in the same industrial zones as the companies in PTT Group, most particularly to those with branch offices between Rayong and Bangkok and want to reduce their travel costs. These firms would be able to access TelePresence services in both locations at a special rate.
